Colette Paul has published widely, and in a variety of publications including: The Edinburgh Review, Stand, Litro, The Manchester Review, and Short Fiction: Theory & Practice. Her collection of stories, Whoever You Choose to Love (Weidenfeld and Nicholson), was widely reviewed in publications including the TLS, The Sunday Times, The Observer, The Guardian, The Scotsman and Time Out. Three of Colette’s stories were chosen by Victoria Hislop for inclusion in her anthology, The Story: Love, Loss & the Lives of Women: 100 Great Short Stories.

Ali Smith wrote in The Guardian of Colette’s work: ‘This is fiction that shouldn’t be missed’. Scottish Poet Laureate Jackie Kay, and Bernard McLaverty, both chose Whoever You Choose to Love as their book of the year. Stories from the collection were serialized for a week on Radio 4, and shortlisted for a Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Writers Award. Colette won the Tom Gallon/ Royal Society of Authors short story prize. She has just completed another collection of short stories and is working on a novel.
